Land Use and Planning Explorer
The Land Use and Planning Explorer maps the designations that shape what can be built where: flood zones, green belt, protected landscapes and habitats, heritage sites, and environmental hazards. For a full explanation of the tool please see the manual. You can also access sections of the manual via the help buttons ().
Coverage: unlike our other tools, this one is mostly England. Planning designations are devolved, and the agencies that publish them differ by country, so most layers here (flood zones, green belt, conservation areas, listed buildings, national parks, nature reserves, registered parks and gardens, noise and historic landfill) are England only. Sites of Special Scientific Interest cover Great Britain, and the international designations (Ramsar sites, Special Areas of Conservation, Special Protection Areas) cover the UK; National Landscapes and ancient woodland cover England and Wales.
