This page provides links to download data from Carbon & Place as well as extra information on licensing and methods for data users.
Data Access and Licence
All the bulk data within the Carbon & Place is available to download under the Open Data Commons Attribution License.
You are free:
- To share: To copy, distribute and use the data.
- To create: To produce works from the data.
- To adapt: To modify, transform and build upon the data.
As long as you:
- Attribute: You must attribute any public use of the data, or works produced from the data, in the manner specified in the license. For any use or redistribution of the data, or works produced from it, you must make clear to others the license of the data and keep intact any notices on the original data.
This licence does not apply to the website, map tiles, or other hosted data which is only to be used via the official Carbon & Place website. You must not link, embed, scrape or otherwise use the constituent parts of the website.
Source Code
The source code used in the analysis and to build the website is published under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0.

Data from the original CREDS Place-Based Carbon Calcualtor
LSOA Data – this is a zipped CSV file containing all the data for each LSOA in England.
Transit Stops – this is a zipped CSV containing all the data from the Transit Stops layer for Great Britain.
15-minute isochrones – a zipped GeoJSON file containing all the 15-minute isochrones for each LSOA in England.
PCT combined route network - a zipped GeoJSON file containing the combined route networks for commuting and travel to school based on the Propensity to Cycle Tool

As Carbon & Place is undergoing a majour update, many of the new tools are in an experimental stage. Experimental data releases are bulk version of the data aviaible in the Carbon & Place. However these should be treated with care as they may contain errors. Once tools have been finalised experimental data releases will be replaced with bulk data downloads.
Experimental datasets are zipped and named by date of creation (e.g. yyyymmdd)

LSOA Carbon Footprints
Household Clusters
A zipped CSV providing the sythetic data used to produce the community photo in the PBCC. For each LSOA the number of households has been categorised by NS-SEC, Housheold Compositon, and Ethnicity.
Transport Accessability Explorer
Public Transport Frequency
A zipped CSV providing the frequency of public transport (trips per hour) for each LSOA in Great Britain from most years from 2004 - 2023. Data is broken down by GTFS mode of travel and time of day and weekday/weekend.
Access Proximity
A zipped CSV of the Acccess-Proximity data. For each 2021 LSOA in England and Wales and each class of Point of Intrest (e.g. "Fish and Chip Shops") it provides a count of the population access and proximity scores for 15, 30, 45, and 60 minutes by public transport.

Domestic Energy Performance Certificates Summary
A zipped CSV with summary data about domestic EPC certificated in each LSOA in Great Britain.

Building Heights
A zipped GeoPackage of building polygons with height estimates. Polygons are produced by comining OS Open Data, OpenSteetMap and INSPIRE Polygons.
2m Digitial Terrain Map of Great Britain
A PMtiles file containing RGB encoded webp raster tiles.
A DTM is raster map containing the elevation of the ground. This version was constructed to be an Open Data terrain map whith a higher resolution that coppmany aviaible sources like OS Terrain 50. For more details on methods and data see the GitHub Repo
